Red Wine - The new fountain of youth?

red

Recent studies have exposed the benefits of drinking red wine, as combating major health issues such as cancer, weight loss and even ageing! Resveratrol is an extract present in the skin of grapes used to make red wine, and is what gives red wine its health enriching properties. Red wine contains more of these properties than white wine because red wine is fermented with the skin throughout the entire fermentation process.

It has been said that drinking a moderate amount of red wine on a regular basis (no more than 2 glasses per day for men, 1 glass per day for women) can have significant health benefits. Dark grapes contain flavonoids (antioxidants), which can improve the circulatory system, slow down the decline of the immune system as we age, and also prevent the likelihood of suffering a stroke or heart attack.
Resveratrol is a non-flavonoid antioxidant, which is believed to contain anti-inflammatory elements, and has been used to assist weight-loss, the control of diabetes and in the prevention of some cancers. Remember that moderate intake is the key, as too much alcohol can have detrimental health effects.
